MCIEA Cross-Consortium Data Team

As an MCIEA district, you have the unique opportunity to explore how SQM survey data can shape your school improvement and performance assessment implementation efforts. As part of MCIEA’s new Cross-Consortium Data Team, you’ll use the data to create school improvement goals and related benchmarks to help drive continuous improvement. It’s an excellent opportunity to collaborate with other MCIEA districts around shared challenges and common school improvement goals..

How do we get involved?

  • Choose a representative from at least one school who is able to participate in monthly meetings, either in-person or virtually. To keep the group at a manageable size, we ask that each district send representatives from no more than 3 different schools.
  • We recommend that representatives selected for the team are people who play a role on an instructional leadership team in their school, e.g.: administrators, ILT members, teacher coaches, or union representatives.
  • Email SQM Director, Peter Piazza at ppiazza@ccebos.org to sign up by Friday, November 22nd!

How does it work?

What are the outcomes?

Small Team Meetings
  • SQM Project Director Peter Piazza will travel to each district once a month from January to June for a 30-minute gathering to review the district’s data and prepare an update for the cross-district group.
Monthly Full Data Team Meetings
  • The full Cross-Consortium Data Team will gather monthly for 60-90 minutes at a predetermined host district site. Those unable to attend in person can participate virtually. The meeting consists of district updates, small-group collaboration, and share-outs. When possible, the small team meetings will immediately precede the full data team meetings.
District and School Partners
  • We’ll develop strategies for using SQM data to shape school improvement plans, including piloting a new SQM classroom walk-through protocol.
  • By the end of the year, each school will have identified a topic and created initial plans for a school-based intervention to be piloted in the 2020-21 school year.
MCIEA
  • Create classroom-level case studies and conduct preliminary qualitative data collection.
  • Develop an updated Appreciative Inquiry Toolkit that includes: more connections to SQM, more connections to “local data,” protocols that can be used by classroom teachers.
